ITINERARY
Duration: 2 days
Day 1: Cusco – Racchi.
We leave Cusco to the village of Racchi, where we will be welcomed by the local community wearing their traditional costumes. After settling in one of the inhabitants’ houses, we can visit the majestic Temple of Wiracocha and its surroundings. In this Inca vestige of unique characteristics we can observe a wall of more than 14 meters high made of stone and adobe. In addition to the temple we can walk inside the citadel to discover the granaries, ritual places and part of the original Inca trail.
Later, returning to the village of Racchi, we will have the opportunity to attend a pottery workshop. The villagers, experts in this art, show us their ancestral techniques and invite us to participate in the elaboration of some simple objects.
Before dinner, we will have a ceremony of thanksgiving to the Pachamama with a spiritual leader of the Andes. It is a magical moment to understand the importance of the worship of mother earth and the connection with the Andean man. The end includes music and dance with the people. Dinner and overnight at the inhabitants’ house.
Day 2: Racchi – Seven Colors Mountain (Vinicunca).
Very early in the morning, we move to the district of Cusipata, to take a detour to the community of PHULAWASI PATA. In this place we start our hike. We will make a progressive ascent from 4750 m until we reach the first viewpoint of the mountain of colors over 5000 m. The road is a progressive ascent that is accompanied by magnificent landscapes, llamas and small lakes. The effort is worth it to reach the first point where we will have the image of this beautiful mountain colored by natural oxides that have formed over millions of years. In order to have the best views, we will make a last effort to reach 5036 m. From here, the view is splendid over the entire Vilcanota mountain range and part of the red valley. The most imposing mountain is the Ausangate, which exceeds 6300 m, being the highest mountain in the region.
After the panoramic photos and several minutes to observe the scenery and regain strength, we will return to the parking lot to take the vehicle that will return us to the city of Cusco.
